Emily Luxon

Emily’s Affiliate project is focused on building campus practices around PBL and ungrading (separately and together). Both of these pedagogical approaches are learning centered, and focused on designing learning experiences so that students can engage fully and deeply with the material, ideally in more authentic, more meaningful, and (dare we say) more enjoyable ways.

Aligned with her Hub Affiliate project, Emily has been leading a campus ungrading learning community (since Fall 2021), and is leading a campus team participating in the Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s (WPI) Collaborative for Project-Based Learning (May 2022-May 2023). With the campus WPI Collaborative team and fellow Hub Affiliate Patrick Beauchesne, Emily is helping develop a campus PBL learning community.

Emily Luxon is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, and regularly teaches courses on environmental and food politics & policy.
