Announcing Jesse Stommel as The Hub’s Fall 2021 Virtual Resident

The Hub is excited to announce our very first virtual resident and it is none other than Dr. Jesse Stommel who will serve in this role throughout the Fall 2021 term.

The Hub’s Virtual Residency is a new endeavor to bring outside scholars of teaching and learning into our community on a longer-term basis than a one-time lecture or workshop. It is designed to bring a teaching and learning thought leader into our community for continued engagement – to not only present and lead events but also to attend and engage with our community.

We are absolutely thrilled to have Dr. Stommel in this role for our inaugural launch. Jesse comes to University of Michigan – Dearborn as an expert and public intellectual researching higher education pedagogy, critical digital pedagogy, and assessment. He is a co-founder of Digital Pedagogy Lab and Hybrid Pedagogy: the journal of critical digital pedagogy. Co-author of An Urgency of Teachers: the Work of Critical Digital Pedagogy, Jesse is a documentary filmmaker who has taught courses on film, digital studies, and composition. You can find out more about Jesse at  jessestommel.com and he is on Twitter @Jessifer.

Throughout the Fall 2021 term Jesse will be engaging with our teaching and learning community in a variety of ways: leading events but also dropping into some of our programming. Some events that Jesse will be leading will be public – so if you are not at University of Michigan – Dearborn keep your eyes peeled for announcements forthcoming!
