Can we learn from imperfect teaching?

Talk by Dr. Nancy Chick May 19th, 2021

We were so excited to host Nancy Chick, Director of the Endeavor Foundation Center for Faculty Development at Rollins College and Co-President of the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in a virtual talk on May 19th, 2021.

Nancy’s talk is part of the larger programming that the Hub for Teaching and Learning is offering called Reflection 2021. We know that this year has exhausted our physical and mental resources for teaching – and to give those of you interested in processing the year in writing a structured opportunity (and financial incentive!) to do so. (Interested? Sign up for more reminders here.)

One place to write some reflections from the year is in “Reflective Graffiti,” which was open prior to Nancy’s visit and continues to be a place where faculty can share a question this year has raised for them. Together with the longer reflection prompts here there is a chance to put what you’ve experienced into words.

Nancy’s talk also incorporated writing… participants wrote haiku about the current moment! Want to know more? You can watch the entire talk below. If you do, follow along with the document to which Nancy refers.

Happy viewing, gentle unfurling, and as always, reach out to the Hub if you’d like to discuss these matters more!
