I am a Lecturer in Biology in the Department of Natural Sciences here at UM Dearborn. For my affiliate project, I will be exploring how case studies in combination with authentic assessment can be used as a tool for increasing engagement, retention and achievement in introductory courses. I am particularly interested in how case studies can be used to help students “see themselves” in science. In addition to sharing what I learn through blog posts, I will share resources that I collect and find. I will be transforming my introductory biology course into a case-based course and share that experience with campus faculty.
