Amy is an associate professor of Women’s and Gender Studies and LGBTQ+ Studies at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Her Hub affiliate project is on teaching and learning under the conditions of political backlash to critical race, gender, and sexuality studies. The project focuses on how to preserve our learning communities and our collective wellbeing when this backlash enters the intimate space of our classrooms. This topic is one that is close to her heart both professionally, as someone who does research and teaches in these fields, and personally, as a queer woman with a trans partner and many LGBTQ+ loved ones, as well as loved ones who do not support LGBTQ+ rights. Whether in research, teaching, or life, she is committed to deep and genuine relationship building as a vehicle of social change.
